Using LCDs for Digital Signage

LCD TVs (Liquid Crystal Display) are a relatively new concept. While the TV showrooms are full of them and no longer do many manufacturers produce the old CRT (cathode ray tube) devices, they have really only been with us for a few years and it was only last year that LCDs first outsold CRT  (with a 50% share of the 200 million TVs sold worldwide).

However, LCDs have exploded in more places that just our living rooms they are now to be found in a multitude of places from shopping malls, colleges and schools to hospitals, prisons and even the sidewalk.

The use of LCDs for digital advertising and information was a natural step as the technology got cheaper, flatter and more reliable and for the first time TV’s could fit on to walls and take up only as much space as a painting. (more…)

LCD Enclosures – Outdoor Protection for Digital Signage

Television has revolutionised our lives with most of us watching hour upon hour of it every week. A TV now sits in nearly every living room and thanks to the growing trend for outdoor digital signage – TV’s are now becoming a regular sight on our boulevards and in our shopping malls too.

Part of this has to do with the emergence of LCD (liquid crystal display) and plasmas that have replaced the traditional CRT (cathode ray tube).
