With next year’s soccer World Cup expecting to attract an accumulative television audience of over 26 billion people, many of whom will be watching the matches in public areas such as bars, pubs, restaurants, beer gardens or town squares.
It is no surprise then that the number of LCD TVs that will end up outdoors is also expected to dramatically increase as more and more bars, pubs and clubs take advantage of the World Cup fever and install outdoor LCD TVs and plasmas.
While watching the World Cup outdoors with a few beers amongst friends has perhaps an atmosphere second only to being in the stadium itself, it does provide problems when it comes to safe operation of the LCD TV.
Having a TV outdoors means that the TV has to be protected, not just from the weather elements like rain but also needs to be tough and secure enough to withstand attempts at vandalism or theft.
Weatherproof LCD enclosures deigned to accommodate nearly any size of standard LCD screen are ideal for this job. The expansion in the digital signage market has meant more and more implementations for LCD TVs and plasma screens in more and more locations. Keeping the LCD or plasma dry and in enabling it to work in optimum temperatures is often a challenge. (more…)

The LCD and plasma TV revolution seems to be in full swing with TV screens being manufactured in both larger and smaller sizes to accommodate their use, not just as entertainment and home viewing, but also the ever increasing needs of the digital signage market. (more…)

One area where digital signage has really taken off is providing information and entertainment at theme parks, zoos, museums and other tourist attractions. What is an LCD enclosure?

When marketers first started using commercial LCD and plasma televisions for digital signage, they could never predict how large and how quickly this new media has flourished. Whilst using display devices such as LCDs for advertising may have been seen as a natural step, placing a TV anywhere other than a home can be seen as an innovative challenge. (more…)
